Josie Maran is an American actress and supermodel born on May 8th 1978. She is probably best known for roles in such movies as ‘The Aviator’ and ‘Van Helsing’ and for her modelling with ‘Guess’ and ‘Glamour’ to name but a few.
At the age of 12 Josie was spotted by an agent at a local barbecue restaurant and was offered a job modelling part time.
After graduating from Castilleja School, she realised that she wanted a more serious career in modelling and signed with Elite Modelling Agency of Los Angeles when she was 17 years old. In 1998 she appeared on the cover of ‘Glamour’ Magazine and was a featured ‘Guess?’ girl for their summer and fall 1998 campaigns.
She later went on to appear in a music video for the hit Boy Band ‘The Backstreet Boys’ and soon moved to New York City and was offered a multi year deal with Maybelline cosmetics. She also appeared in ‘Sports Illustrated’ for three years from 2000-2002.
Josie’s high profile modelling career soon began to open up opportunities for her to break into the acting scene and her first movie was an independent film called The Mallory Effect in 2001. In 2002 she played the role of Susan in ‘Swatters’ and in 2004 she had several roles in bigger movies such as ‘Little Black Book’ alongside Brittany Murphy where she played the role of a French model. She also starred as one of Dracula’s brides in ‘Van Helsing’ and had a brief role in ‘The Aviator’ as a cigarette girl.
In 2005 she appeared in a short film called ‘The Confession’ and in 2006 she played Kira Hastings in ‘The Gravedancers’.
She was also recruited by EA games in 2005 to voice Mia Townsend in ‘Need for speed: Most wanted.
Maran and partner Ali Alborzi have a daughter together called ‘Rumi June’ who was born on June 20th 2006. The couple have no plans for marriage as Josie Maran has been quoted as saying that she does not believe in the idea of it.
